FiftyTwoDegrees Technology Complex

FiftyTwoDegrees is the first phase of a new technology complex (located on the 52nd degree of latitude) in the Dutch city of Nijmegen. The 86m tall building houses a number of high-technology businesses in a range of offices and laboratories spanning seventeen floors and an area of 43,000 m2.

The recently completed building is being protected by Advanced Electronics Ltd's Mx-4000 fire alarm control panels interfaced to over 500 devices, which were installed by their local partner Hertek.

The Mx-4000 panels have sophisticated cause and effect programmability and powerful I/O capability. This was used to good effect in the new building to provide an advanced interface to other systems including elevator fire control and smoke dampers.

The Mx-4000 panels are located throughout the building and inter-connected using Ad-NeT+, Advanced’s fault tolerant network. Ad-NeT+ is capable of withstanding a single fault between nodes without loss of communications to any single panel. Up to 200 panels (nodes) can be connected on the network with a total loop length of 20Km, using standard two-core fire resistant cable. The network in FiftyTwoDegrees allows the status of all 500 devices to be interrogated on any of the fire panels.

Advanced Electronics Ltd manufactures a comprehensive range of intelligent control and indicating panels, software and peripherals for fire detection, smoke control and the emergency lighting market. The EN54 approved Mx-4000 series and the UL 864 approved Ax-Series fire systems offer enhanced features for the end-user, system designer and installer. Advanced Electronics also manufacture the LifeLine family of DDA-compliant fire safety products for the deaf and hearing impaired.
